What kinda food do u recommend for my betta?
Currently I am feeding Nutrafin Max with Natural Color Enhancer to my betta named Harvey! I noticed that his colour is fading.. I’m not sure if it is just a stage he is goin’ through, or that’s his colour, or if I need to try another brand of food. Please share your advice. Thank you all in advance.
I recommend a variety of live, frozen and flake or pellet foods. Flake foods alone tend to have a lot of fillers that are indigestible to bettas but they are also fortified with vitamins. I feed flakes usually 2 times per week and the rest of the time they get live black worms, frozen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, beef heart or mysid shrimp.
The vitamins in pellet and flake food dissipate quickly. It’s best to buy the smallest container they sell and to throw it out after 30 – 60 days after opening. Even though flake food is very inexpensive, I still tend to use it for 60 days. I can’t bring myself to toss it after just a month.
A lot of other things can lead to color loss too. Check your water parameters to make sure he isn’t being exposed to ammonia or nitrite and keep an eye on the pH and water temperature too. Color loss can be an early sign of disease.
Good luck!
